Eco-manufacturer Remarkable looks to the future by appointing new Commercial Director

Eco-manufacturer Remarkable has appointed Tony Browne as its new Commercial Director, marking the start of an exciting year for the innovative company.

Tony joined the board at Remarkable in January 2012 to help the eco-company grow across a variety of channels – including government, retail, promotional and environmental – in addition to encouraging the development of new products, services and to increase sales growth.

Remarkable is an environmentally responsible UK manufacturer and supplier of recycled and eco-friendly stationery, gifts and original products.

With more than 20 years experience in the forest products industry, Tony is particularly familiar with the importance of material lifecycles and the benefits this can bring. As Tony explains:

“With ‘first to market’ experience in closed loop office paper recycling in the UK in 2008, I fully appreciate the position which Remarkable has, as we are already managing materials in this way on a daily basis. With my experience and specialist capabilities born in the paper based sustainability market, I’m passionate about recycling, CSR, ethical and robust solutions and product new life. Having worked at the Robert Horne Group for many years, I was employed within several of its operating companies and enjoyed a variety of roles, most recently as Sustainability and Development Director.”

Tony first worked in partnership with Remarkable four years ago when he was the Business Development Director yoyo; a closed-loop solution to recycle UK office waste into 100% recycled paper and offer choice via additional sustainable accredited paper propositions: The recycled paper is still used within Remarkable notepads today.

Tony continues: “Remarkable has created a fantastic brand during the past 16 years with some great in-vogue eco products, made in the UK from UK waste streams. It’s something I am keen to capitalise on, in order to grow the business in existing channels whilst exploring exciting new ones – hungry for our capabilities. I’m delighted to be joining the company at such an exciting time and look forward to future success.”

Ed Douglas Miller, MD of Remarkable, who recently appeared on the Channel 4 show The Secret Millionaire, said: “We’re over the moon to have brought Tony onboard. His extensive experience in the recycling sector, in addition to sales and new business development, will prove to be particularly useful to help us grow the business even more; he’s a great addition to the Remarkable team.”

Owned by Ed Douglas Miller, Remarkable uses an eco-manufacturing process to create new and inventive products from UK waste. Housed in a 30,000 sq ft classic old red brick factory in Worcester, powered by renewable energy, Remarkable employs over 30 members of staff and recycles more than ten tonnes of UK waste materials every week.
