Innovative British eco-inventor wins major retail contract
with Waitrose

Eco-inventor and businessman Ed Douglas Miller has achieved yet another milestone this year by winning a substantial contract with upmarket supermarket chain Waitrose, who are now stocking the full range of eco-products manufactured by his ground-breaking UK eco-manufacturing business, Remarkable, which recycles UK waste into fun and original everyday products.

Waitrose has over 240 branches across the United Kingdom and is the 6th largest grocery retailer in the country. With a strong focus on high quality products and corporate social responsibility, Remarkable was delighted to be brought on board as the supermarket’s new stockist of eco-friendly and design led stationery products.

Waitrose stationery buyer, Kirsty Dennis, is always looking to source suppliers and products for the supermarket chain that fit within its strict environmental criteria. Attractive products that are either recycled or made from natural and sustainable products are therefore particularly appealing to Waitrose’s team of buyers and Ms Dennis has described the Remarkable brand as “an excellent partner for Waitrose”.

Included amongst the product line being supplied are items such as pencils made from recycled CD cases, pencil cases made from recycled tyres, and geometry sets made from biodegradable corn starch, all of which are available to buyers doing their weekly shop.

Despite having been created from landfill and everyday waste, all of Remarkable’s products are of an innovative and brightly coloured design and appeal to children and adults of all ages. Even the packaging is environmentally friendly, mostly being made or recycled drinks bottles and recycled card.
Remarkable’s exclusive eco-friendly range has so far been selling extremely well for Waitrose: “We are very happy to be stocking the Remarkable range in our supermarkets”, buyer, Kirsty Dennis, revealed, “our shoppers are always keen to see more environmentally friendly products on the shelves. We are absolutely committed to being responsible in the way we select our retail products”.

The Remarkable eco-manufacturing process is housed in a 30,000 sq ft classic old red brick factory in Worcester, powered by renewable energy and employing 30 members of staff and recycling over 10 tonnes of UK materials every week.

This latest major retail success story is yet another highlight of the year for Remarkable, with founder and inventor Ed Douglas Miller and his team constantly conjuring up new product ideas and ways to safeguard the environment. “One of the greatest goals of Remarkable is to keep raising environmental awareness, continuing to innovate and create stylish products while inspiring others to start making small everyday changes,” explains Ed. “A hallmark of Remarkable’s philosophy is that being environmentally friendly can be good fun too!”
